FFIEC Issues Additional Guidance on HMDA Reporting
Based on analysis of some preliminary 2004 data, the FFIEC believes that additional guidance is necessary to ensure that data are reported accurately. The areas of discussion pertain to: transition rules; ethnicity, race, and sex (government monitoring information); property location information on refinancings and preapprovals; lien status reporting; loans subject to the Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA loans); and reporting the sale of home purchase loans.

HUD HMDA Data Collection Transfer
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Reserve System (“the Board”) recently reached an agreement to transfer the HUD Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data collection process to the Board. The Board will be collecting HMDA data only. This change is effective immediately with your 2004 HMDA report due on or before March 1, 2005 to the Board. HUD has discontinued the collection of FHA data and negative reports and will notify institutions of the new procedures.
